About Us

Hi! I'm Leigh. I'm the mom in this crazy family of ours. A few years ago my husband Nick and I decided that we were not content to just dream of the life we wanted... we were going to make it happen! Like all great things, getting here was neither simple or easy. First of all, what life did we want anyway? We knew that the "rat race" lifestyle of wake up > eat and feed the kids > drive to work and school > work work work > errands > dinner > bath time > bedtime > rinse/repeat was NOT working for us. But what could we do about it really?

Everywhere we looked people were doing the same thing so who were we to complain? For years we thought we could buy our way out of the problem- a bigger house, childcare, housecleaners, awesome vacations- but that didn't quite work.

Slowly over time we made changes, small and large, scary and amazing, to make our lives what we wanted them to be. We are still working to figure out this thing called life but the difference now is that we are actually enjoying it fully. Over time we have done the following:

  • Changed our jobs to work in a more flexible and meaningful way that aligns with our values
  • KonMari'd our belongings, sold our big old house and became renters
  • Paid off all of our debt and embraced the world of FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early)
  • Bought a camper and started traveling the US with our two kids
This is our story. It isn't neatly packaged or perfect but it is ours. It is a little bit personal and a lot about the places and experiences we are having on our current journey. We would love for you to follow us! We are always looking to build our community with like minded people who are interested in doing something different.

I am new to this whole blogging thing so please, share your feedback. Throughout the blog I may reference places or products that have really added value to our lives. I am an affiliate for some products and services and may be compensated if you purchase them. Please know that I would never recommend anything without great thought and care. As with anything, take what works for you from this blog and leave the rest.

With gratitude,
Leigh
